It is a good thing that the houses in India are made up of brick and concrete otherwise our house in India would be burnt to a crisp. The first night that Ted was back there was an electrical fire at the fuse box in our garage. We had one fuse catch on fire a few months back but we got it repaired and it seemed fine after that. Ted was trying to sleep the first night back and around 2 am the fuse box caught fire and the house filled with smoke. He stayed in a hotel for a few nights until they got the generator wired direct to the inside circuit breakers which is a bit scary looking. I am glad that the kids are not there, I am worried enough about the pets! The first day they moved the freezer into the house and ran an extension cord from our neighbors house through the kitchen window so the fridge and freezer could have power. Oh the joys of India! Let's just say Ted is ready for a break from India after 4 days! Now we are waiting on someone to come out and rebuild the fuse box but they are trying to figure out who pays...the landlord or our company. It is kin of a crazy deal as you would think that the landlord should pay for it, but things are different in India.

OH-MY-GOSH!!!
How scary is that. What a welcome home that was. Thank God the house didn't go down, and the pets are okay. Geez...Jennifer, that is a shocker.

Oh man.....weeping, wailing, knashing of teeth....and I was JUST getting homesick! (OK, I was really missing our cat and the ocean view). Very scary - I'm sure glad that no one was hurt! Have you thought about bringing fire alarms back? We brought some in our shipment and Cat paid for them. There is a clause somewhere in Paragon booklet that says that they will pay.
When do you go back?
Teresa
Teresa,
Ted actually brought smoke alarms back with him...just don't think he had them set up yet or if he did that isn't a good sign! The kids and I get back July 30. I am planning on coffee at our house in August!
Jennifer,
I found you!

I saw the devestation in person and the generator hooked into the house. It was all sort of surreal. It's funny to me that a huge expensive house like that is apparently put together so poorly.
